NOT IN THE WORKBOOK:#3) 3rd Step Prayer – the instructions tell us that the wording of this prayer is optional so long as we express the meaning without reservation. The language used in the Big Book is not common to us today, yet it is important to have a personal experience with this prayer.
REWRITE the 3rd Step Prayer using language that makes sense to you. It is important to express the same idea, but write the prayer with language that you would actually use in daily conversation.

PROCESS:
TIP FOR COMPLETING THE FEAR GRID:
FIRST – right your fears in the first column (work vertically first). THEN work horizontally with the question, “why do I have this fear?” When considering why I have each fear I was encouraged to close my eyes and picture what life would be if the fear were real/true.
Example: I fear being alone. If I am alone, I then fear emotional pain. If I experience emotional pain for too long, I fear I will drink. Etc.
Partial Fears List – Examples of common fears.
Fear Grid Example Filled Out – This is a bit difficult to read, but a good example.
